Jim Spencer

Maker, software engineer, and relentless tinkerer. I build software, run my own infrastructure at home, fix the things I own, and grow food. This site is a curated public slice of my notes — a digital garden of finished projects and how-to writeups.

A few things I’m working on or have shipped:

  • WurstWright — a sausage & charcuterie recipe app with cure calculators, batch scaling, and timers. Self-hosted on a home NAS behind a Cloudflare tunnel. Live demo →
  • Self-hosted infrastructure — Actual Budget, Home Assistant, and these notes themselves all run on a UGREEN NAS in the basement, reachable over Cloudflare Tunnels instead of rented cloud hosts.
  • Hardware diagnostics — OBD-II work on a Jeep, dashcam offload pipelines, and the occasional Linux gremlin.

More entries get added here as I finish things. The full private vault (everything I’m still working on, plus hardware receipts and dashcam footage) stays offline — only the curated public/ folder is published here.
